Apple plans to spend up to 1 billion in series and movies

The technological giant will reserve that budget line to produce much more audiovisual content in 2018

The technological giant Apple has decided to reserve a game of about 1,000 million dollars (851.164 million euros) to buy and produce next year audiovisual content such as series and movies, according to the website of The Wall Street Journal .

That amount would place Apple as one of the big players in Hollywood, as it is about half of what the HBO channel spent on content last year, according to The Wall Street Journal .

Other sources indicated that, with this money, the apple company could buy and produce up to ten television series and enter fully into the content race in which other technology companies such as Amazon are already embarking.

Many analysts believe that Apple needs at least a series of great success to make their video service take off, in view of the relevance they had for other platforms such as Netflix products such as 'House of Cards' and 'Orange is the New Black'.

The company has already offered its own programs this year through its streaming service, but they have not had much relevance among the general public.

However, with cash reserves of more than 261,000 million dollars (222,154 million euros) and a turnover of 215,000 million (183,000 million euros), Apple could easily make big bets in Hollywood.
