Bird's Eye Selfies

Bird's Eye Selfies

To be recorded or photographed from impossible perspectives is already possible thanks to the minidrones

The selfies have evolved at great speed during the last five years. Fashion began timidly with digital cameras, but shortly after the irruption of the 'smartphone' in the market changed the rules of the game forever. Then came the selfie stick, inseparable companion of the self-portrait addict.

Now the drones could become their substitutes. These new devices allow photographing remote environments and any person or group of people from a bird's-eye view, which provides greater freedom when taking photographs, since it is not necessary to place the mobile phone at face height, but it is enough to press the button so that the drone takes care of the rest.

In addition to taking pictures, these drones can also automatically follow a person and record moving plans. As for their professional utility, drones are used more and more frequently to perform security surveillance functions, livestock control and even to carry out cartographic updates.

Two "flying cameras" stand out in the market, the Hover Camera , created by Zero Zero Robotics, and the Airselfie created by the AirSelfie Holdings group.

The US company Zero Zero Robotics has designed an intelligent drone that allows taking pictures and videos from the air thanks to the stability provided by its four blades. Its image quality stands out due to its 13 megapixels. It allows to make videos in 4k and includes a facial recognition function. Another of the outstanding elements is its easy transportation, it is a folding drone that only needs to be opened and pressing its power button to start flying with total autonomy. It is accompanied by an application used as a remote trigger that allows downloading the photos taken.

As for the Airselfie, its remote control is associated with an application for smartphones, available in both iOS and Android. This small drone has three flight modes that adapt to the different situations we want to capture. Its 5 megapixel camera and its HD video recording make it inferior, in terms of technical specifications, to the Hover Camera.

The price of these drones varies between 179 euros and 250 euros in the case of the Airselfie and the 599 euros that the Hover Camera costs. An important payment for fans of the 'selfie'.
